About Us

The Alpine Grind is located in the picturesque mountain town of Rossland, B.C. at 2104 Columbia Avenue (Rossland’s main drag), across from the historic post office. You may have visited us in our old location, a block east at the flashing light intersection. We moved in January, 2014 to our new, beautiful, air-conditioned, accessible space, and are open seven days a week.

We also have a second location at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail.

Tucked high in the Monashee Mountains of the West Kootenay region of B.C., Rossland is at an elevation of 1023 metres (3410 feet). The population today is approximately 3700, but back in 1897 Rossland was one of Western Canada’s largest cities, with a booming community of gold miners. A number of historic buildings survive from this time, many seen in its handsome downtown. Rossland promotes itself as Canada’s Mountain Bike Capital and an extensive trail system radiates from the town, with the most famous and challenging being the 35km IMBA Epic, Seven Summits trail. Nearby is Red Mountain Resort, rated as one of the best in the world for the hard-core skier or snowboarder. And for a small community, it’s amazingly urban, with fabulous boutique shops and excellent dining options — the Grind being just one of them!
